Females with cervical scarring, poor cervical mucus, or cervicitis, and males with erectile dysfunction or mild sperm abnormalities can choose IUI that is an ideal treatment option for increasing the likelihood of getting pregnant. The IUI treatment is not an ideal option for females with blocked fallopian tubes.
Before starting the procedure, both male and female partners are examined and evaluated. Then male semen analysis is performed. Females Anti-Mullerian Hormone (AMH) and Follicle Stimulating Hormone (FSH) are checked. Ovarian function is also evaluated, a vaginal ultrasound is performed, and pregnant history or medical history is also discussed, the uterine cavity and fallopian tubes are also assessed.
Then in the intrauterine insemination cycle, certain medications are provided that stimulate the ovaries to produce female eggs, and then, using an injection or thin catheter, the processed sperm is placed into the uterus during ovulation. The entire process is completely painless and takes only a few seconds. After a week of ovulation, the progesterone levels are checked in females, and after two weeks of insemination, the blood testing determines if pregnancy has resulted.
The main benefit of the IUI process is that it bypasses the female cervix and allows sperm to target the ovaries without being stopped by the lower portions of the female reproductive tract.
